Thanks to the capacity building & grant support from Next Step Initiative, we have been able to invest in leadership development for both staff and volunteers, creating opportunities for emerging community leaders, particularly from African and Caribbean backgrounds, to gain skills in project management, broadcasting, and organisational governance. This has strengthened our internal capacity to deliver larger-scale projects, manage resources effectively, and maintain consistent quality across our services. In terms of sustainability, we have been able to diversify our income streams, strengthen partnerships with funders and cultural institutions, and develop clearer long-term strategies. We are now less reliant on ad-hoc funding and better positioned to plan multi-year initiatives that address systemic inequities in representation and access to opportunities. This growth in organisational resilience and leadership capacity has increased our impact within the community but also elevated our role as a trusted, credible, and sustainable platform for advocacy, cultural expression, and skills development in Scotland’s African and Caribbean communities.”
